Perfomance ‘Harmas’ in the context of the exhibition “Labor Natur”
Harmas – die Branche des Alten is a long-term project in which the two artists Petra Ronner / Annette Schmucki produce electronic music pieces through improvisation.
The work ‘Harmas – die Branche des Alten’ (the sector of the old) is processual. It is a relentless overwriting and reshaping on the matrix of the previous intermediate result.
A sequence of changing texts, sound, image material. A palimpsestic procedure. Words, text fragments from Jean-Henri Fabre’s “Erinnerungen eines Insektenforschers”, sounds reminiscent of insects and abstract figures drawn from seemingly organic photographs are erased or overwritten to make room for something new. In winter season, the Haus zur Glocke transforms into a laboratory and the artists into researchers. The processes and insights gained through the artistic craft, which raise new questions, are central. The works of the exhibitions are snapshots of the research processes that are continued in the reception of the works.
