The three positions of the summer exhibition describe image geneses that originate from found objects in order to reinterpret them. EMBROIDERS OF ACTUALITY fills a traditional format with new content, Corina Rauer interprets the statements of images through translation of media images, while Ester Bättig reads architectural constellations and thereby both finds and founds them.

Through needlework, Aglaia Haritz and Abdelaziz Zerrou let women around the Mediterranean tell their stories with the project EMBROIDERS OF ACTUALITY. They lend a voice to those who usually remain hidden and silent. At the Haus zur Glocke, embroidery and weaver are presented as objects of an overarching installation, complemented by video and sound.

EHRLICHES HANDWERK – honest craftsmanship – is the name of the series of watercolors that Corina Rauer has continuously expanded since 2017.  In it, individual pictorial elements appear in different compositions, as new interpretations varying with context. In HOW TO, an installation for the exhibition is being created as a work in progress. A hut traditionally serves as a shelter against environmental forces such as storms or heavy snowfall. The torrent of media images becomes a metaphorical storm, art becomes shelter by enveloping the hut built by the artist.

For her site-specific interventions, Ester Bättig lets herself be inspired by what is already there. To discover her images, she absorbs observations and subsequently weaves them further with playful abandon, becoming a kind of resonance body herself. Traces within Haus zur Glocke are thus rendered sites of inception for installations. – By reading the two narrow shop windows of the decommissioned kiosk at Steckborn station as image vessels, Ester Bättig expands the exhibition into the outdoors.
